The rowing venue in Linz is situated on the northern side of the Danube in an area called Ottensheim. Ottensheim is one of the most popular recreation areas around Linz, offering rowing, cycling, skating and more. It is noted for its many nice restaurants and its beautiful setting.
The regatta course at Linz-Ottensheim was built in 1972 on an arm of the river Danube. Since then, it has hosted many important international regattas, including the nation’s cup in 1990 and 2001, the junior world championships in 1998 and a rowing world cup race in 2007.
