Located in north central Austria, Linz is the country’s third largest city. It lies approximately 30 kilometers south of the Czech Republic border and covers both sides of the river Danube. The city embodies both a strong, historical tradition and a rich, contemporary culture. It is a center for music and arts in Upper Austria, featuring recently built museums and concert halls. Linz is Austria’s second largest economic center, servicing ports on the Danube, as well as being a railroad hub.
