USRowing Identification Camp -- Oklahoma City, Okla.
Like the other ID Camps, the purpose of this camp is to identify male and female athletes with U-23 or Senior National Team potential. Additionally, this camp will identify potential residents for the Oklahoma City National Training Center.
Camp Date: Dec. 5, 2009
Regisration Deadline: Nov. 6, 2009
Women: 12-5 p.m.
Men: 1-6 p.m.
Target Athletes:
This is an open camp targeted to men and women with U-23 or Senior National Team potential and aspirations. Rowers can be aspiring to the U-23 or Senior National Team or residency at the Oklahoma City National Training Center. Athletes recently out of college or in graduate school are encouraged to attend. For openweight women, we are looking for athletes who are 5’11” or taller. If a candidate is shorter, they should have demonstrated a strong erg and be able to row with good length on the water.
The erg range we are looking for is:
Open Women: under 7:15 for 2K or 23:15 for 6K
Open Men: under 6:15 for 2K or 19:55 for 6K
Lightweight Women: under 7:35 for 2K or 23:45 for 6K
Lightweight Men: under 6:34 for 2K or 20:35 for 6K
If you do not meet these standards, but you believe you have the drive and the engine to reach them with time, send us your information and depending on space availability, you will be included in the camp.
Coxswains:
We will need 1-2 coxswains, however, this is not intended to be a coxswain identification camp. Coxswains can learn, possibly assist and have the opportunity to cox or ride in a launch if space is available. Please contact us if you are an interested coxswain.
Registration:
Women should email Anne Kakela at anne@usrowing.org and men should email John Parker at john@usrowing.org with the following information: the specific camp date and location, name, USRowing number, e-mail address, age, year in school, height, weight, preferred side, sculling experience (yes/no), and erg scores (2k and 6k or the equivalent). Information should be submitted by November 6, 2009.
