Adaptive Rowing Initiative

In April of 2008, USRowing announced a partnership with WinTech Racing to support the growth of adaptive rowing in the United States.

Information on the Adaptive Rowing Initiative can be found on the ARI Web site by clicking here.

On behalf of USRowing, WinTech Racing will serve as a resource for USRowing organizations to promote the benefit of adaptive rowing in America. The joint objective is to increase the number of adaptive rowing programs by making it easier and faster for clubs and other organizations to obtain the information, guidance and training required to start one. The initiative was launched in June of 2009.

WinTech’s Deb Arenberg will lead the initiative, continuing her collaboration with the USRowing adaptive coaching staff and the adaptive rowing community. She has extensive experience in setting up clinics and adaptive programs at clubs, universities and rehabilitation facilities and is a certified FISA adaptive qualifier.

The introduction of rowing as an official event in the 2008 Paralympics Games in Beijing was a milestone that demonstrated the benefits of adaptive rowing to the world. Unlike many other adaptive sports, athletes with a wide range of disabilities can row, competitively or recreationally, with an opportunity for lifetime fitness. The mental and physical therapeutic benefits are enormous. If you are interested in getting the disabled members of your community on the water, please send your contact information to darenberg@wintechracing.com.
