William M. Hollenback Jr. Annual Fund

In July 2002, the USRowing Board of Directors announced the formation of the William M. Hollenback Jr. Annual Fund, an unrestricted annual operating fund that will be used to benefit USRowing programs and regattas nationwide.

The late William M. Hollenback, Jr., President of USRowing from 1979-1985, left USRowing an unrestricted gift of $100,000 through his estate earlier in 2002. During his many years of affiliation with USRowing and its predecessor organization – the National Association of Amateur Oarsmen, Mr. Hollenback was widely respected for his leadership, statesmanship and vision. To recognize his many contributions to rowing and honor his memory, the Board named the USRowing Annual Fund in his honor.

A Hollenback Annual Fund Advisory Committee has been created, as well, to assist the Board of Directors in identifying effective ways to develop and manage the annual giving program.

Five levels of contributors have been established: Donors to $100, Sponsors to $500, Sustainers to $1,000, Patrons to $5,000 and Partners above $5,000.

Responding to the generous gift provided by the Hollenback estate, all USRowing Board members pledged contributions to the Annual Fund.

All contributors will be recognized in USRowing’s publications and will be updated during the year on how their donations are being used. Initial Sustainers, Patrons and Partners were invited to a Hollenback Annual Fund reception at the 2002 national convention and will be given additional recognition at USRowing national regattas.

Patrons and Partners will be provided additional opportunities during the year to meet and consult with senior USRowing leaders and with the coaches and athletes at the Princeton Training Center.

Tax-deductible contributions to the Hollenback Annual Fund will be used to support, among other things, our national championship regatta, masters national championship regatta, youth invitational regatta, USRowing magazine, referee commission, field service, membership development initiatives and annual convention.

Checks to the fund should be made payable to the “Hollenback Annual Fund” and mailed to USRowing,2 Wall Street, Princeton, NJ 08540. Credit card contributions may be made by calling USRowing’s toll-free number, 1-800-314-4ROW (4769).
