Description:
The USRowing National Team Programs Manager is responsible for the logistics of international team travel, and the administration of various athlete and training center programs of USRowing and our partners such as USADA and USOC.
The position assists the High Performance Director in implementation of the USRowing High Performance Plan (HPP) including the organization and management of the various components of elite and pre-elite level rowing in the United States. Applicants will need experience in managing events, creating and implementing a logistics plan for international and domestic camps and team travel. The position oversees several administrative programs related to USADA anti-doping, and USOC programs, including training center relations, athlete support as well as other USRowing programs.
This position directly reports to the high performance director and currently has one direct report, and the programs coordinator. Proven expertise and ability in interpersonal communication will be an important trait with knowledge, skill and experience in the area of integrated programming and its delivery at the regional and national levels. The position oversees the Athlete Support program and Elite Athlete Health Insurance programs, provides logistical expertise in scheduling and team travel.
Successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop selection procedures for athlete and coaches for all protected events and programs and work in conjunction with USADA for monitoring purposes. A comprehensive understanding of the United States Olympic Committee and Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Aviron (FISA) is preferred.
Responsibilities and Objectives:
1. Assist to develop and direct USRowing’s High Performance Programs with the High Performance Director, including but not limited to:
- Enhance the overall operations and effectiveness of National Team Programs.
- Coordinate support of elite level National Team athletes including but not limited to international exchange and training opportunities, coaching support, technical support, sports medicine and science support, competition entry and travel support.
- Implement the HPP strategic plan that addresses annual and quadrennial performance measures in collaboration with National Team coaches and staff.
- Assist in increasing international performance with specific target of new medals in small boat and sculling events. Additional emphasis of programs that are directed to junior and under 23 teams to participate in small and sculling boats for the creation of a seamless athlete pipeline.
- Assist to create and implement sports science programs in support of the above objectives. Work with National Team Coaches and USOC’s Performance Services division, when necessary.
- Assist to facilitate and communicate the HPP and related issues within the stakeholders of the USOC, the Performance Enhancement Team (PET), and the High Performance Committee (HPC).
2. Management
- Create and manage administrative systems to support training center programs and athletes including relationships with USADA and USOC.
- Assist the HPD to monitor the progress and performance of the athlete talent pool with the stakeholders and National Team Coaches as it relates to the HPP and make changes as necessary.
- Implement the selection procedures for athletes, coaches and additional staff for major competitions (Pan Am Games, World Championships and Olympic Games). Implementing athlete support standards on an annual basis for all High Performance and Elite level programming.
- Assist to develop and oversee the athlete pipeline in regards to Junior, Under 23, Pan Am, and Senior National Team for both sculling and sweep disciplines.
- Manage and oversee the national team coordinator and volunteer staff.
- Manage other duties as assigned by the high performance director.

Internships
Membership 2010 Summer Internship
USRowing, the national governing body for rowing in the United States, seeks a qualified applicant interested in marketing and statistical/demographical analysis. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Market Research – conduct surveys and create demographic/statistical reports on the membership;

Event Marketing – promote membership benefits at regattas;

Member Services – help maintain on-going membership programs and services, update memberships and check compliance at USRowing events.
The applicant should have distinguished organizational skills, excellent verbal communication skills, superior people skills, strong computer skills, and the desire to learn more about the sport. The applicant must posses a willingness to travel.
The internship is paid and school credit is available. Housing expenses are not provided.
